Matthew Ludford King takes up the baton at Trentham


Trentham Brass band are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Ludford King as their MD.

Matt is a multi-instrumentalist, brass teacher and conducting graduate of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Having grown up playing the Euphonium, Trombone and Percussion, Matthew comes with a wealth of performing experience and is currently a percussionist with Tredegar Town Band.

When he’s not at band, Matt can be found teaching brass to hundreds of children across Birmingham schools. He has enjoyed a number of successes and accolades as a conductor with Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass, Newstead Brass, and the RBC Brass Band including ‘Best Student Conductor’ at UniBrass 2022.

Matt says “I’m really excited for the opportunity to be working with Trentham Band starting in October. They’re a great bunch and I’m looking forward to jumping straight in to the hard work as we prepare for our autumn and winter season concerts.”
